The First Time I Was 20 (France, 2004, 97 min., French with English subtitles) Directed by Lorraine Levy. It's the 1960s in suburban Paris, and sixteen-year-old Hannah (up-and-coming French film actress, Marilou Berry) is the ugly duckling of her loving, yet stifling, Jewish family. Hannah's big dream is to be selected as the double bass player for her school's all-male jazz band. But Hannah's real troubles begin when her dream comes true, as her male band mates will stop at nothing to make her life miserable. Infused with humor, and a fantastic jazz soundtrack, Lorraine Levy's directorial debut will leave you cheering for Hannah, a smart, funny underdog who uses equal doses of ingenuity and wit to outsmart those who would like to see her fail.
7:30 SCREENING SOLD OUT! Please note that there is an EXCELLENT chance that we can seat you with standby tickets for "sold out" shows. We reserve seats at each screening for all-festival passholders and many do not show up for all films. Standby ticketing begins 15 mins prior to showtime and we seat standby patrons on a first come, first served basis. We suggest that you come to the theater 30 mins in advance of the screening to line up for standby seating. |
