Alice and I (Belgium, 2004, 19 min., French with subtitles) Directed by Micha Wald. The off-beat and darkly funny tale of Simon, who grudgingly agrees to drive his great aunt Mala and her two friends to the seaside. On the way he gets a call from his girlfriend, Alice, which turns into an argument. The Jewish grandmothers in the backseat can't help but give advice.

Brooklyn: Among the Ruins (USA, 2005, 14 min., English) Directed by Suzanne Wasserman. Meet Paul Kronenberg, a 60 year-old train buff who intends to be buried in the life-size replica of a 1930s subway cab he built in his tiny Sheepshead Bay apartment. This short film is Paul's quirky historical tour of Coney Island and other neighborhood highlights.

The Kiss (USA, 2004, 8 min., Yiddish with subtitles) Directed by Paul Fischer. A young girl's father is preoccupied with prayer, so she resorts to an enchanting stunt to win his attention.

Orders of Love (United Kingdom, 2004, 10 min., English). Directed by Jes Benstock. Filmmaker Jes Benstock wonders, "Maybe it's not just your mum and dad who muck you up." An off-the-wall documentary about how past generations influence our personalities.

Two Ladies (Canada, 2004, 4 min., English) Directed by Sarah Lazarovic. A whimsical animated short about two irrepressible bubbes, Helena, 85, and Marsha, 75, who came to Montreal as young women. Accompanied by a soundtrack of lively klezmer tunes.
