A Spanish screwball comedy in the tradition of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, Only Human brings the Palestinian-Israeli conflict close to home—literally. Leni has returned to her parents’ house in Madrid to introduce her fiance, Rafi, to her kooky Jewish family for the first time. Everything goes smoothly until the couple belatedly reveals that Rafi is Palestinian. With excellent performances from this ensemble cast, including Argentine film star Norma Aleandro as Leni’s mother, Only Human arrives at an unlikely conclusion that acknowledges the distance between cultures and the power of love to bridge the gap.
