Bonjour Monsieur Schlomi
(Israel, 2003, 98 min., Hebrew w/subtitles)
Directed by Shemi Zarhin

Growing up is not easy for 16-year-old Schlomi. His older brother tortures him, his parents are feuding, and his girlfriend is a tease. Between the dullness of school and the drudgery of household chores, two things keep him going: the love of his elderly grandfather and the allure of his new neighbor. When his principal discovers Schlomi's hidden talent and takes him under wing, Schlomi realizes he has the power to change his life. A warm tale of innocence lost and dreams pursued.
