Another Road Home (Israel/USA, 2005, 77 min., English) Directed by Danae Elon Shortly after the Six-Day War noted Israeli author Amos Elon and his wife, Beth, hire a Palestinian man to take care of their six-month-old daughter, Danae. Musa Obeidallah continued in this role for the next twenty years until Danae was grown and he was able to save enough money to send all eight of his sons to America. In the early 1990s, with the mounting tension of the Israeli occupation and the Palestinian Intifada, the two families lose track of each other. In her award-wining documentary, Danae sets out to find the man who served as her devoted and trusted caregiver. She first reconnects with his sons, now in New Jersey, and then reunites with Musa himself. The film explores the delicate boundaries between family, class and politics, and uncovers an emotionally complex story that is ultimately optimistic.
